Craft Volunteer - Armdale, Shrewsbury

Would you like to make a positive difference to residents in our Retirement Living Schemes by supporting them to interact and socialise, helping to reduce isolation and promote positive wellbeing?

We currently have an opportunity for an Crafting Volunteer. This retirement living scheme of bungalows is situated in Shrewsbury  where there is a communal lounge where residents can relax, socialise and participate in shared activities. An enthusiastic group of residents would like to restart a regular activates and are looking for someone with creativity and enthusiasm to lead the group. 

In this role you would be:

• Helping to set up the room before the group arrives and greet residents with a friendly face.

• Ensuring that anyone coming for the first time feels welcome and supporting them to join in.

• Clearing away after the activity.

Care Plus commitment to you:

· Induction programme to ensure you have the skills and confidence to fulfil your role.

· All volunteers will require a DBS check which will be paid for by us.

· Additional training opportunities offered

· All volunteers will be supported by the Engagement and Volunteer Team and their skills and contribution to the group will be reviewed on a regular basis.

What skills do I need?

• Be able to communicate clearly with residents, staff and volunteers
• Be empathetic and non-judgemental towards residents
• Be proactive in identifying where our residents might need help with activities

We are looking for someone who is happy to interact with residents, be sociable and comfortable with people face to face .

Whether you are an experienced crafter or would like to just like to make a difference, we are more interested in your willingness to bring together an enthusiastic group of residents and have some creative fun.
