Community vegetable garden

Babbinswood Community Organic Farm is a community enterprise set up to connect the local community in North Shropshire with the natural resources and delicious and nutritious organic food available at Babbinswood Farm. An organic farm for over 20 years, Babbinswood is also home to a growing community vegetable, fruit and salad garden - the Eden Garden. As we develop the garden, along permaculture and agroecology principles, we welcome help with all aspects of growing and distributing produce from the farm. Our aim is to make our organic fruit and veg more accessible and affordable for local people, reducing the burden on our planet (caused by excess packaging and food-miles), and supplying produce to local households through veg-box, food-share schemes and our modest onsite farm shop. We also want to make our outdoor space more accessible, so that more local people can benefit from nature\'s own therapy: fresh-air, exercise and working with (not against) the natural cycles and seasons. Our garden work offers social interaction, sharing skills and experiences, and a real sense of community effort and achievement. About Babbinswood Farm

Babbinswood Farm is developing from its core organic vegetable and ethical dairy farming roots. A range of community activities, experiences and opportunities are now on offer, all geared to allowing more in our community to connect with nature.

What skills do I need?

We welcome all volunteers, regardless of skills, experience or background. All we ask is for a positive attitude, a willingness to try new activities and methods, and a respect for the land, wildlife and other people.

Health and safety training and guidance on use of tools will be provided. This is predominantly an outdoor activity, so adapting to weather changes is important. We make every effort to make our garden accessible to all. For those that are physically fit, mobile and energetic, we have many activities that will both challenge and exercise you. For those with any physical constraints or limitations, we have many other tasks that are equally valuable and important that you can help us with.
