Fundraising Volunteer

Samaritans of Shrewsbury

The main purpose of this role is to write and submit grant applications to local trust and statutory funders on behalf of the local Samaritans branch.


Further details of responsibilities;


Research and identify local trust and statutory funders of Samaritans services and costs

Draft grant applications to local trust and statutory funders

Submit draft applications to Branch Director for approval

Submit approved applications to funders and monitor outcomes, receiving and dealing with any follow-up queries and taking the lead on any presentations to funders

Monitor progress of applications, including following-up funders

Reporting back to funders about project outcomes and progress

Communicate with the Treasurer on a regular basis regarding fundraising activity 

Make sure that any applications comply with Samaritans policies (e.g. Confidentiality)

Liaise with the RFO/SCO Fundraising Team to avoid duplication of approaches to the same funder 


Expenses

All out of pocket expenses related to the role will be reimbursed in line with the branch expenses policy


Volunteer Recruitment Process at the Samaritans

Interested volunteers can apply by completing an application form within the set deadline

An informal interview will be held

Attendance at an information session

All new Samaritans volunteers must complete the online mandatory training for support volunteers

Appropriate induction and training specific to the role will be arranged

Details

• There is no set term of appointment, though an annual review is good practice. • Timings will largely be determined by individual workload • The role can be conducted from home but will be required to attend occasional meetings at the branch
