Riding session support helper

About Derwen Group Riding for the Disabled (RDA)

The Derwen Riding Group provides riding sessions for disabled adults who are assisted by a group of able volunteers. The group rides at Walford College in Bashchurch and provides specially selected horses and ponies of various sizes. Additionally, the group rides in an indoor arena with other equipment provided.

What skills do I need?

• no specific skills are needed as full RDA‑approved training is provided

• willingness to support participants to ride safely and confidently

• ability to offer calm encouragement to help riders enjoy their experience

• readiness to work as part of a supportive team

• reliability and a positive attitude towards helping others

• openness to learning and following guidance from coaches and experienced helpers

Details

Sessions are term time only: 9.30am - 11.00am. Volunteers are required to be there 15 minutes either side of the session to help set up and take down the equipment.
