The Movement Centre
Are you a wordsmith with a passion for storytelling? Looking for a flexible, home-based role where your writing skills can directly unlock life-changing therapy for children?
The Movement Centre is a specialist children's physiotherapy charity. We help children with movement disabilities gain independence through evidence-based therapies that improve movement control, sitting, standing and walking; ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Because we offer our services completely free to families - grants from trusts, foundations, and community funds are the vital engine keeping our clinical work running. We are looking for an organised, detail-oriented Grants and Bid Writing Volunteer to help us complete funding applications for values up to £4,000.
What you’ll be doing:
• The writing: Crafting compelling, concise bid applications for values up to £4,000. You will be given a specific list of trusts to apply to, meaning no cold research is required.
• The library: Utilising our comprehensive internal Bid Library - a collection of pre-written templates, typical questions and answers, up-to-date impact statistics, clinical facts, and heartwarming case studies - to build your applications.
• The feedback loop: Keeping a simple log of who you have applied to and when, reporting this back to your volunteer manager so we can update our central tracking systems.
The details:
This role is 100% remote. You can complete this entirely from the comfort of your own home or workspace. While the role is home-based, you will be warmly invited to visit our centre in Oswestry to see our clinical work first-hand, meet the team, and experience the physical magic your writing will fund.
This is a flexible role. We shall send you opportunities and deadlines where applicable with plenty of notice. Whether you have a few hours per week or per month, this is a meaningful role that can fit around your lifestyle.
The Skills you need:
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write clearly, persuasively, and accurately.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to follow application guidelines precisely.
• Comfortable using a computer, email, and basic Word processing tools.
• Note: Prior experience in bid writing is useful but not mandatory. If you have great writing skills and a heart for our cause, we will supply all the training and materials you need to succeed.
What’s in it for you?
• Direct, tangible impact: You will see the exact correlation of your work - a successful bid you write could fund a custom standing frame or a complete block of clinical therapy for a child on our waiting list.
• Professional skill development: Build an impressive portfolio of real-world copy and grant-writing experience.
• Expert mentorship: Work directly with our established fundraising team, gaining valuable insight into how the charity sector operates.
