PALZ UK (Shropshire)
PALZ Shropshire aims to provide people who are now living with Alzheimer’s (or dementia from other causes) with a social environment of peer support and mental challenge. Meetings are held every month alternating between speaker and social. Attendees enjoy a range of interesting Guest Speakers providing intellectual stimulation to those who just happen to have Alzheimer’s or any other cause of dementia. These meetings aim to provide self-respect, confidence, mental stimulation and involvement to those who attend and their supporters. PALZ Shropshire focuses on who you are, not what you have, and recognises that just because you're losing your memory, you haven't lost your brain.
We would be delighted to welcome anyone interested to a meeting or two to learn more.
Marketing and Information Coordinator Role Description
Other activities shared around the committee (Secretary, Treasurer, Chair and other committee members)
PALZ provides intellectual and social stimulation to people and families living with dementia now, whether caused by Alzheimer’s or other disease.
This is facilitated by monthly meetings which alternate between stimulating talks and informal and warm social gatherings.
PALZ recognises that just because you are losing your memory you haven’t lost your brain, and, as one supporter put it
“ from my family and friends I get sympathy, but from those at PALZ I get empathy” Generally those participants who attend are in the early to middle stages of dementia.
