Oswestry Talking Newspaper

OTN produces a weekly audible version of local news, mainly from the Oswestry Advertiser and local magazines and it is run by a complementary team of committed individuals with varied skills.

We are a group of volunteers who prepare a weekly recording of articles taken from the local newspaper on the day of publication. Each edition also includes other local information and topics that are of interest to our listeners. The recording is placed in a yellow zipped pouch and is in the post that evening for delivery the following day. In addition, the recording is  accessible the same day via the Talking Newspaper App for Android and Apple smart devices and Amazon Alexa.

  • To attend 1 - 1:30 hours on a rota basis, five to seven times a year to read local news from The Oswestry and Borders Advertiser
  • The Reader selects their own items and edits out any repetitions
  • Act as support for finding a replacement for the Reading Team at short notice if there is a gap
  • Act as a point of communication for the Reading Team
