Volunteer Sound Engineer

Tasks and responsibilities may include any of the following:

• Comfortable working with audio systems internally and externally at events (training will be provided)
• Ensuring high-quality sound by following best practice with equipment and monitoring outcomes
• Edit interviews for airing in software such as Audacity or Garage Band (training will be provided)
• Help to record and compile podcasts and catch-up shows

Additional Responsibilities:

• Understand the importance of the groups Health & Safety procedures.
• Understand the importance of confidentiality & safeguarding vulnerable children/and or adults.
• Be aware of the standards set by INTUNE RADIO and the need to work to these standards at all times.

About INTUNE RADIO CIC

We provide a FREE-TO-AIR service for local charities and community groups, with a cost-effective advertising service for local businesses.

Being a community radio station we survive on money raised and services bought, which provides a facility for the whole of the community. To date we’ve assisted almost 100 charities, almost 50 independent artists, and 100’s of individuals from the charity, community and business sectors in Shropshire have a voice – to tell their stories.

Aside from usual broadcasting we serve our local communities by defining specific projects. We can assist and produce tangible outcomes for specific sectors of society with specific information and messages, especially those in social or economic deprivation or minority groups. We sometimes partner with businesses and charities which can mean we can also generate a community project that is attractive to funders which enables us to complete it.

What skills do I need?

Skills:

• To be comfortable working with technology / or have an interest in sound technology 
• The Volunteer Sound Engineer works as part of a team.
• The Volunteer Sound Engineer should be reliable and arrive to help on the dates and times agreed.

Training:

• Every volunteer will receive our mandatory training Broadcast and Studio Training
• Every volunteer will have access & be signposted to training which the group feels is appropriate for the role.
• Every volunteer will be trained in all the tasks they are required to carry out to ensure they have the skills and confidence to fulfil their role.
• No volunteer will be expected to carry out their duties unsupervised until they are confident and skilled in these duties.
• All volunteers will be supported by Presenters and their skills and contribution to the group will be reviewed on a regular basis.

Additional information:

• Volunteers are covered by INTune Radio’s public liability and personal accident insurance while working with us.
• Volunteers have to be 18 or over. There is no upper age limit.
• Session Volunteers aged 18 or over or who have left school are required to complete a DBS check as they are working with vulnerable adults and children.
