Volunteers to design, make or adapt items for use by persons with disabilities

Our volunteers are experienced engineers, craftsmen or DIYers with access to a wide variety of skills and expertise. Remap [Shropshire] is one of 70+ local groups spread across the UK, we cover all of Shropshire, T & W and areas of Mid Wales. Volunteers work from their home base in conjunction with clients and their Occupational Therapist/Medical Professional where appropriate.

Examples of recent projects include:

• modified wheelchair with office chair seat /tow baby buggy
• arm adaptor to take multi-tools for gardening
• modified glove for client to hold drumstick
• bed extension for tall adult
• parallel bars to assist person with single sided weakness

About Remap Shropshire

Remap is a charity which produces aids and equipment for people with disabilities where there are no suitable alternatives. This service is provided free of charge and is delivered entirely by volunteers.

Our volunteers are experienced engineers or craftsmen with access to a wide variety of skills and expertise. Remap [Shropshire] is one of 80 local groups spread across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Each piece of equipment is tailor-made to suit the specific needs of one individual and is for their personal use only.

We usually work with health professionals like occupational therapists to make sure that the equipment we provide meets the needs of each person. It is best for those we are helping to involve their occupational therapist, or other health professional, from an early stage.
