Engagement Support Volunteer

About the Role

As an Engagement Support Volunteer, you will help Healthwatch Shropshire connect with local people at community events, public venues and organised activities across the county. By collecting people’s experiences, sharing information and representing Healthwatch Shropshire, you will play an important role in ensuring that local voices influence the development of health and social care services in Shropshire.

What You’ll Do

• Support Healthwatch Shropshire at engagement activities such as market stalls, community events, hospital stands and other outreach opportunities, either as part of a team or independently.
• Promote Healthwatch Shropshire positively in the community and encourage people to get involved, by distributing leaflets and speaking with members of the public and collect their experiences of health and social care services in Shropshire.
• Provide basic information and signposting (where appropriate), with full training and support.
• Give talks to local groups about the work of Healthwatch Shropshire (with appropriate support and training) if this is something you would like to do but is not compulsory to the role.
• Support the delivery of surveys, projects and engagement activities - helping people to complete surveys at events, over the phone, or independently using paper or digital tools.
• Represent Healthwatch Shropshire positively as an ambassador in the community.

Important information

You will need access to a car to help you travel to community engagement activities - Healthwatch Shropshire reimburses reasonable travel expenses. Mileage can be claimed at 45p per mile and car parking costs will be reimbursed.

What skills do I need?

Working as Part of a Team

• You may take part in engagement activities independently or alongside other volunteers and staff.
• You will be invited to quarterly volunteer meetings to share learning and stay connected with the volunteer team.
• You will be fully supported by Healthwatch Shropshire Team
• Access to transport is helpful, as engagement activities may take place across Shropshire.

 

Training and Support

You don’t need previous experience to volunteer - full training and support will be provided.

You’ll receive:

• A full induction to Healthwatch Shropshire and the Engagement Support role.
• A comprehensive training package to prepare you for engagement activities.
•  Ongoing support from staff and volunteers through regular communication, supervision and volunteer meetings.

Details

This is a flexible volunteering role. You can give as much or as little time as you choose. Some periods may be busier than others depending on events and activities taking place across the county.
