Sight Loss Shropshire

Sight Loss Shropshire is a charity that supports visually impaired people of all ages living in Shropshire. 

Our charity receives donations of sight loss equipment, from talking clocks to video magnifiers. We are looking for 1 or 2 dedicated volunteers who will help kickstart and take charge of our rehoming service, ensuring that unused gadgets and gismos are getting to visually impaired people who will benefit from them. 

The role will include; 

  • Corresponding with equipment donors and recipients via email, phone and in person 
  • Collecting and delivering equipment throughout Shropshire, using your own car (mileage will be reimbursed) 
  • Ensuring equipment is working and clean 
  • Keeping stock records using Google Sheets and Forms
  • Researching equipment value online

Sight Loss Shropshire is a registered charity established in 1922, that supports visually impaired people of all ages living in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.

WHAT WE DO

- Provide free Living Well with Sight Loss courses over the phone and face-to-face: information, advice, support and practical solutions
- Give grants to help visually impaired people to acquire specialist equipment
- Support a network of local social groups for visually impaired people
- Raise awareness of sight loss issues and help improve local sight loss services
- Host major social sight loss events
- Offer digital tech training on smart phones and tablets for people with sight loss

What we ask of you:

  • To be aged 18 or over 
  • Sympathetic toward the need of visually impaired people 
  • Strong organisational skills 
  • Good communication skills 
  • To be respectful and patient 
  • Full, clean UK driving license and access to a vehicle
