Secretary

Remap Shropshire

We are looking for a secretary volunteer to take minutes at our monthly meetings. The meetings take place every 3rd Monday of the month, at the Lantern in Shrewsbury or via Zoom. 

Tasks and responsibilities include:

  • The volunteer should have access to a laptop, and be comfortable using Microsoft Word
  • Taking minutes 
  • Preparing the minutes in our usual format 
  • Sending the minutes to the Chair for checking and approval 
  • Sending out the minutes to all volunteers 

Additional responsibilities:

  • Understand the importance of the groups Health & Safety procedures 
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding vulnerable adults 
  • Aware of the standards set by Remap Shropshire, and the need to work at these standards at all times 

About Remap Shropshire

Remap is a charity which produces aids and equipment for people with disabilities where there are no suitable alternatives. This service is provided free of charge and is delivered entirely by volunteers.

Our volunteers are experienced engineers or craftsmen with access to a wide variety of skills and expertise. Remap [Shropshire] is one of 80 local groups spread across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Each piece of equipment is tailor-made to suit the specific needs of one individual and is for their personal use only.

We usually work with health professionals like occupational therapists to make sure that the equipment we provide meets the needs of each person. It is best for those we are helping to involve their occupational therapist, or other health professional, from an early stage.

What skills do I need?

Skills include but are not limited to: 

  • Working as part of a team 
  • Happy with basic I.T skills 
  • To be reliable and be available on the dates and times agreed
  • We are looking for a friendly, welcoming individual to join our great team!

Training:

  • Every volunteer will have access & be signposted to training to training which the group feels appropriate for the role
  • Every volunteer will be trained in all the tasks they are required to carry out, to ensure they have the confidence to fulfill their role 
  • All volunteers will be supported by the Chair/ Treasurer and other panel officers 
  • Volunteers must be aged 18 and over, however there is no upper age limit
