Visitor Experience Volunteer - Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery

Volunteers in this role will be providing a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors of Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery. Volunteers will also be:

• Offering directions around the museum building

• Sharing your knowledge of the collections and exhibitions

• Working with staff and other volunteers as part of a team

• Supporting events and activities taking place across the museum

What Shrewsbury Museum and Archives do to support you:

• An induction to welcome you to the team and get you ready to start volunteering

• The opportunity to develop customer facing experience and work as part of a team dedicated to welcoming visitors to Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery

• Access to training and resources as required to assist you with your volunteer role

• Ongoing support from our Volunteering and Engagement Team and other staff

• Currently volunteers are not offered travel expenses in line with Shropshire Council’s procedures. Please do discuss this with the Volunteering and Engagement Team

About Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery

Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery (SM&AG) is the county’s flagship museum and art gallery. Visitors will find a full programme of activities including courses, workshops for schools, weekly toddler groups, holiday activities and one-off incredible events inspired by their temporary exhibitions programme.

What skills do I need?

• Being comfortable with talking to people or looking to build experience in this
• An ability to work independently at times but be a good team player too
• Keen interest in ensuring all visitors have a positive experience at the museum
• Honesty and reliability
