Special Olympics North Shropshire (SONS)
North Shropshire Special Olympics is part of Special Olympics Great Britain, which provides weekly training opportunities as well as opportunities to compete in a number of different sports for people with a learning disability from the age of 8 upwards.
Athletics practice takes place once a week during term time on Wednesday nights, 6.15 to 7.30 pm, the Derwen sports hall .
There are a few athletics competitions a year on a Saturday or Sunday.
Special Olympics would particularly like to hear from females who would like to support female athletes, although male mentors are welcome to apply too.
Regretfully we are unable to cover volunteer travel expenses at this time.
Special Olympics North Shropshire has been training people with a learning disability aged 8 and above since 1989. We offer weekly training in 5 different sports during term time.
We are looking for a person who is enthusiastic, can relate to people with a learning difficulty and can give encouragement and guidance to improve our athletes skills.
