Mindful Movement Class Helper

Oswestry Community Action (Qube)

We are seeking sociable volunteers who have an interest in encouraging others to participate in various gentle exercise classes to improve their health and wellbeing. Volunteers will assist the professionals who are delivering the classes by greeting participants and serving refreshments afterwards whilst engaging in conversation. Volunteers are invited to participate in the classes (at no cost) alongside the group members if they desire. Volunteers would be needed for 2 hours on a Thursday morning weekly.

Key responsibilities:

·         Being available to volunteer for a minimum of two hours per week on an ongoing basis;

·         Assisting with room set up and tidying to meet the requirements of each individual session;

·         Helping to increase accessibility through supporting members with additional needs

·         Help with refreshments as and when is required;

·         To engage in conversation after the movement session and encourage inclusion and participation in the group;

·         To support with any group activities and suggest activities which may reflect the groups interests;

·         To raise any potential issues to the OCA wellbeing team, in particular those that may relate to safeguarding concerns.

Oswestry Community Action, (Qube) is a registered charity and multi-service provider of community facing wellbeing services. Our mission is to support and enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of communities in Shropshire and the bordering Welsh counties. We support people through the provision of community transport, social groups and befriending, volunteer brokering, community health awareness support and arts and culture. Our service offering has developed over time and continues to evolve in response to local need; such as rural poverty and lack of opportunities; particularly for social isolation, education and poor public transport provision.
