Trustee - Advocacy and Service Development

Shropshire PCAS Peer Counselling and Advocacy Service

About the Role

We are looking for someone with experience of advocacy, health and social care, safeguarding, or supporting vulnerable people to join our Board of Trustees.

This trustee role will help ensure our services remain person-centred, responsive and effective while supporting the future development of advocacy services across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

What You'll Be Doing

• Providing strategic oversight of advocacy services. 

• Supporting service quality and development. 

• Advising on safeguarding and service delivery. 

• Helping ensure the voices of people using our services remain at the heart of decision making. 

• Supporting the charity's long-term strategic planning. 

• Acting as an ambassador for PCAS. 


About Shropshire PCAS Peer Counselling and Advocacy Service

PCAS has provided independent advocacy for over 30 years, supporting individuals across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin who may otherwise struggle to have their voices heard. Our work helps people understand their rights, express their views, and achieve positive outcomes in complex and challenging situations.

What skills do I need?

We welcome applications from people with experience in:

• Independent advocacy. 

• Health or social care. 

• Mental health services. 

• Adult social care. 

• Disability services. 

• Safeguarding. 

• Lived experience of advocacy. 

Previous trustee experience is not required.


When do I need to be available?

We generally have a Trustee meeting on a Monday every 2-3 months but can change the day if needed.
