Energy Champion

Oswestry Community Action (Qube)

Qube is looking for enthusiastic and community-minded volunteers to become Energy Champions as part of our Save Energy – North Shropshire project. This role is a great opportunity to support your local community while promoting practical ways to reduce energy use, save money, and live more sustainably. Energy Champions will operate within their own communities and will not be asked to travel to other areas. Training in basic energy advice will be provide.

 

Key Responsibilities:

•           Engage with local residents at community events, drop-ins, and information stalls

•           Share simple and practical energy-saving tips and signpost to support services

•           Support residents to complete basic energy referrals or advice forms

•           Help distribute leaflets, posters, and promote the project locally

•           Collect feedback from community members and share it with the project team.   

About Oswestry Community Action (Qube)

Oswestry Community Action, (Qube) is a registered charity and multi-service provider of community facing wellbeing services. Our mission is to support and enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of communities in Shropshire and the bordering Welsh counties. We support people through the provision of community transport, social groups and befriending, volunteer brokering, community health awareness support and arts and culture. Our service offering has developed over time and continues to evolve in response to local need; such as rural poverty and lack of opportunities; particularly for social isolation, education and poor public transport provision.

What skills do I need?

An Energy Champion should be:

                     Friendly and confident communicating with people from all backgrounds

                     Passionate about helping others and interested in environmental issues

                     Willing to learn, as training and ongoing support will be provided

                     Able to work independently or as part of a small team

                     A positive and approachable representative of the Save Energy project

                     Reliable and self-motivated

This role is flexible and volunteers can sign up for a commitment of up to 2–4 hours per week at popups in various community venues in their local area of North Shropshire as opportunities arise. Volunteers will be supported by and report to the Save Energy North Shropshire project coordinators at Qube.
